Croatia coach Slaven Bilic is the choice of Real Madrid presidential candidate Eduardo Garcia to replace Juande Ramos at the club if he wins next month's election.

"His greatest virtue is that he controls the dressing room, generates a team spirit, and... likes his teams to play an attractive, attacking game," said Garcia.

Garcia went on to reiterate that a deal was in place to bring Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to the Bernabeu, if he won the poll on June 14.

Bilic made his name as a coach after leading Croatia to the finals of Euro 2008, beating England twice in the group stages to qualify at their expense.

The 40-year-old ruled himself out of the running for the managerial vacancy at former club West Ham last September, with the role eventually going to Gianfranco Zola, and also turned down a job offer from Bundesliga side Schalke in March.

However, the former centre-back, who reached the semi-finals of the 1998 World Cup as a player, announced in January that he would step down as national team coach at the end of the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.

  1. in my opinion i think they should remain the same­ coach(ramos)... football is not only winning the game­ but how you maintain as a team.. ramos has done it.. i­ think they should build their young lad rather then­ senior squad..

  2. Real Madrid should buy good defender. Thats all. How­ Ramos and Heinze can be a defender? When Heinze made a­ big mistake against Millan in CL, MU wanted to get rid­ of him and Real Madrid bought him. It is shame. I­ support Real Madrid from the beiginning and my friends­ always irritates me when they exit from CL. They should­ do better next year.

  8. Madrid is really becoming a joke, they keep on­ switching coaches for no reason. Why don't you get­ one good coach and stick with him and have faith on­ him, give a coach the chance to prove himself.
