League One - Di Matteo named April's top boss

MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo edged out Nigel Pearson, Darren Ferguson and Simon Grayson to win April's League One Manager of the Month award.

Di Matteo, whose side missed out on the automatic promotion spots, guided Dons to five wins from six matches in the month.

He held off competition from Leicester boss Pearson, Ferguson at Peterborough and Grayson of Leeds.

"We had many games in March which cost us, but once we got that behind us April was a better month for us," he said.

"The players have given everything and worked very hard.

"We have a very good group of players and I think we have a good chance in the play-offs."

  3. Di Matteo has done a great job for MK Dons and deserves­ congratulation. Darren Ferguson has already had his­ award. From a Leeds perspective I just hope that Simon­ Grayson, who has done a brilliant job in turning LUFC­ around, gets his just reward with promotion to the­ Championship.
