Everton should hear the result of the public inquiry into their new stadium plans well before the previously expected date of November.
The club have been made aware that the Government's planning inspectorate has acknowledged "frustration" that November 27 had been set for a decision. It now hopes Communities Secretary Hazel Blears will make an announcement "well before" that deadline.
Everton are hoping to join forces with Tesco for a new stadium and shopping complex in nearby Kirkby, with the inquiry report likely to be completed by July.
Everton spokesman Ian Ross said: "We have always said we would welcome a decision as early as possible and that's still the case.
"We knew the decision was due by the end of November, but it is heartening to hear that it may come sooner than that."

FAO Tom.W.Ward - what did you mean by that? Surely that's one of the most idiotic posts i've ever seen on any internet site. Also, 'rafaforpope' - I thought Everton didn't bother you reds - you were above all that etc - so why are you on here?
No to Kirkby!
Jesus. If the lad is so blind and can not see our history, he is blind to the fact he has less brain cell then a dead rock. Everton are on of the founders yes our history is longer than liverpool. If you check your history the bird IS BLUE and anfield was our stadium. there first team was everton reserves. well done for getting where they are now they deserve it, same as man ut arsenal chelsea. All the clubs have worked hard to get where they are now. Everton have worked hard and US die hard fans hate and admire all clubs for working hard and trying to better them selves. Everton are the only consistant club in the last 5 years (bar one) to push the top 4. We need to expand the stadium for several reasons, 1, We need more space for OUR FANS. we constantly fill Goodison we need the extra space to increase funds for the team weather it is transfers, better training facilities scouting etc. Most of the stadiums are new, more up to date than goodison. We have one of the best academys at finch farm now it is the time of the stadium. We are pushing forward and some people don't like the way we do it. We do it the everton way, the hard way. So think and say what you like.
EVERTONIANS ARE BORN, NOT ManUFACTURED, WE DO NOT CHOOSE, WE ARE CHOSEN. THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND NEED NO EXPLANATION. THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND
DO NOT MATTER.
eerrrr ...............post number 3, second line ..........?
sorry, you CAN count can't you. POPEY.
nobody else did duncky
please don't use the word "die" in the threads. Death and the liverpool fans seem to go hand in hand.
Are you sure it is Tesco and not poundland?
its a pitty for Everton that two of the supposed three are next door neighbours! Liverpool and Tranmere. You did mean on Merseyside didn't you? Ha Ha HA
two fools
my aren't we two small minded silly people. Everton have qualities and stature and stability that are the envy of most clubs. A following that some clubs would die for. They do deserve the new stadium and the sooner the better. One last thing only three clubs have ever won more silverware than everton fc. We were there from the beginning as founder members and always will be.
They don't deserve the stadium they have now nevermind a new one!
Is Goodison too small for them now...?
