Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate is targeting Champions League qualification next year after finishing the current campaign with a flourish.
Spurs are still in the hunt for a Europa League place this season and Woodgate wants to continue their recent good form after the summer, echoing the sentiments of boss Harry Redknapp.
"I want to finish as far as we can up the league," Woodgate said. "The aim is always to get in the top four and the Champions League."
He added: "We'll see how we do. It's going to be a better team next year, you can see how the team has changed under the manager we have now.
"Robbie (Keane) and Jermain (Defoe) have been good acquisitions for the squad, along with Wilson Palacios, who has been brilliant for us.
"It's taking shape in the training ground and we are starting to do it on a Saturday."
Spurs have been helped by Woodgate's partnership with Ledley King in defence.
They have conceded just nine goals in 18 home games and could beat their record of 11 during the 1919-20 season.
"The defence is unbelievable," said goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes on Spurs TV Online. "They play very well all the time, they help us so much for our clean sheets.
"It is the best defence I have played in, they understand the game so much and that is important for us."

spurs may do better than Arsenal that won't take much
Baby steps, woody - but if we get a couple of decent players as back up in defence, an out n out left winger we are there or therabouts. Top 6 consistently would be fab ,looking always at the top four.
Silly season will be very interesting. Let's focus on finishing as high up as we can for now - next, Toffees stadium, COYS !!!
ask them when last did they finish in the same top 4?
"We want to finish as high as we can on the table" this guy has something new on his mind for the next season, but isn't that the reason every team plays to win? so they can move as high as they can on that table
comment 7 Rick C ,, so this is the Spurs news, so Jonathan Woodgate only made that statement for the ears
or in this case the eye's of Spurs fans,he was'nt making a statement of fact then, just a statement to please the ears of you white hart lane fans, sorry we did'nt know,, dont think it should have come through on my computer then, because this computer does belong to a English ARSENAL fan.... By the way we would be pleased for you to join us in europe next season, but as another comment mentioned which of the other three are you going to knock out..
What a statement, talk about not thinking before you speak!!!!!!!!!
All you Spurs haters make me laugh!!!!!!We'll see next season ehh!!!.........@#$%!
Can i have a pint of wot ever Jonathon Woodgates been drinking!! or is he really on planet GA GA!!
For the good of English Football hopefully Everton Spurs or Man C break the top four lets face it our league is gettin as predictible as the scottish one! Why not Spurs we were only beaten once so far by a top four club and considerin the mess Comolli left us in thats almost a miracle! YId Army!!
everyone likes a joker an spurs full of them
as long as robbie "cry baby" keane is playing for spurs they will never see europe...
ynwa
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahamy belly hurts stop no more hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahaplease please no more
Woodgate Please! Thank your God you will not be fighting for promoton next season(Championship).
Tottenham 2010 Season: Mission: Staying up in the premiership ha! and not getting involved in the relegation Battle.
This report must been old. They just repeat this after a disappointed season every year.
We can all win the next lottery. Is it not true?
All these teams wanting to crack the top 4 should go and win the UEFA Cup(or Europa League now) before talking about going for the champions league.Aston Villa squandered a great opportunity to give themselves european experience by taking the UEFA cup lightly.
how can a team fighting to stay up in the premier league in mid season crack the top 4 ?? sorry but man city everton and AV r ahead of u n thats a FACT
WOODGATE IS A BORO REJECT!!!!! LOL i think your best mate stewart downning is joinin u in the summer
for those that are giving me thumps down let me ask.hasnt spurs said this thing about breaking into the top 4 like 5seasons ago?and at the middle of the season they say oohh it will be next season.so why give me thumps down like am lying or dont know what am saying
Spurs are 9th. in the league for best defence and 8th. in the league for attack.
To get into the top four is a joke that must be going around White Hart Lane.
Spurs may well suit Harry Redknapp at the moment but just wait until things start going wrong.
When was the last time the gooner scum won something, too many little boys for Arsene to play with !
