Olsson keen on top-flight stay

Thu 07 May, 11:15 AM

West Brom centre-back Jonas Olsson is keen to continue playing Premier League football next season.

The Swede has had an injury-hit first season with the Baggies, who look doomed to be relegated, but has impressed when fit enough to play.

Aston Villa, Blackburn, Bolton and Everton have all been linked with a move this summer for Olsson.

And he said: "I know there is interest but I will not go into the clubs involved. We have a theoretical chance of staying up and I must concentrate on this.

"But clearly, once you have played at this level, you want to remain and play against the best."

  1. Well tilds, here I go: If a player shows a desire to leave, then why keep him? Players have too much power and contracts dont mean a thing. "Clown" Mowbray bought him from nowhere, but now he obviously feels he is better than the club i.e. The same as Davies, Kamara, McShane and Gera before him. Ollson has had a good season, but he is hardly premiership top 6 quality. A few good reviews and it goes to their heads. I like Ollson and would like to keep him, but with statements like above, do we want to keep him? I don't know about you but I want players who want to play for OUR club and show the same amount of passion as we do. Unfortunately those kind of players are very scarce.

Having said that, don't you as an individual aspire for greater things? Move up the corporate ladder? Remember football is their job and they want to progress and move up. Unless your just happy collecting trolleys at Asda that is tilds? or picking your giro up!

  4. Here we go already,i like Olsson and think he's a good player, one of the very few good buys made. The only thing now is ...........................How loyal is he. I hope he stays,it really winds me up to think he'd go after just 1 season and shows that the loyalty is to the money and not to the club that drags you from obscurity. It will be a shame if he left and obviously proves that we cant keep what decent players we have as we are a selling club. Cant stay in the premier league with rubbish as this season has proved.

  5. oh dear, its started has it i thought we would build a team around players like Olsson and Dorrans but i dont think its going to happen do you? how long before say Celtic come calling for young Graham, our only realistic assets cos who else is worth big money oh i forgot the following Carson Moore,Barnett,Bedner,Kim,and of course Valero.
i can see the likes of Ferguson,Wenger, and Benitiz rushing to buy one of these..ha ha i dont think so.....we will be stuck with them oh happy days at the hawthorns
