Preston boss Alan Irvine is boosted by the return of winger Ross Wallace for the first leg of the play-off semi-final at home to Sheffield United.

The former Sunderland man missed last weekend's home win over QPR due to a one-match ban for his red card in the victory at Birmingham the week previously.

He is expected to go straight back into the starting line-up after withdrawing from Scotland the B international against Northern Ireland in midweek in order to prepare for the Blades showdown.

On-loan Watford midfielder Lee Williamson remains absent and will miss both legs of the semi-final due as he serves a three-match ban.

Darren Carter should again deputise for Williamson but Richard Chaplow and Michael Hart remain sidelined through injury.
