Derby County have dropped their interest in Rob Hulse and Ferrie Bodde.
Rams boss Paul Jewell (pictured) was linked with moves for the Championship duo but chairman Adam Pearson has revealed that they could not agree deals with the players' clubs.
"After failing to reach an agreement with Sheffield United, we have decided to pursue other targets," Pearson said of striker Hulse.
He then added that they could not agree terms with Swansea over the purchase of Dutch defender Bodde.
Bodde is rated by the Swans as being a top-class Premier League defender and they will not budge on their valuation for the 26-year-old.
"It's £2million or nothing," Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post. "Cardiff are looking likely to sell Aaron Ramsey for £5million and he won't play many games.
"Ferrie could play 40 games at that level and his valuation is a snip compared to Ramsey's.
"Yes, he put in a transfer request, but until we have a serious offer then he stays put."
