West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green has revealed his delight at finally making his first start for England in the 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Kazakhstan on Saturday.
Green earned his first call-up to the Three Lions in March 2004 and has had to be patient in waiting to start between the posts.
Despite a few nervy moments early on, namely when Kazakhstan had a goal ruled out for offside, Green was pleased with how the game went.
"It's been an ambition and a dream and to get it done and have the memories of winning is more than pleasing," Green told TheFA.com.
"It was a difficult game, but one we've come through with a good result. Maybe not the greatest of performances, but one we'll take.
"We kept chances down to a minimum, but we knew there would be a storm to ride and we did that."

ROB GREEN SHULD BE ENGLANDS NUMBER 1 HE HAS HAD A GREAT SEASON FOR US AND SHULD BE GIVEN A LONG RUN IN THE ENGLAND TEAM.
Green is the best keeper in the country, if he was playing for a top 4 club his England place would be automatic.
he was brilliant but could have been better so for me he is a 5.5
