Boateng agent warns Celtic

Mon 07 Jul, 09:15 AM

George Boateng's agent has told Celtic they must move quickly if they are to sign the midfielder from Middlesbrough.According to the Daily Record the 32-year-old visited the Bhoys' training complex on Thursday, but his representative Barry Silkman says Gordon Strachan's men are yet to meet Boro's valuation.

And with two English Premier League sides - one thought to be Hull - having had bids accepted already, Celtic have been told they must act.

Silkman told the Daily Record: "I've spoken to two Premiership clubs after Middlesbrough accepted their offers.

"Those clubs want to do a deal this week so things will move quickly now.

"At the moment Celtic haven't met Middlesbrough's valuation.

"It is hypothetical to discuss a move to Scotland because you need to look at the clubs that have come up with the goods so far.

"Things are dictated by what Celtic do. If Middlesbrough get an offer from then we'll talk, but right now he's staying in England."

  1. at the end of the day Boateng has to go since Boro have signed two young players in digard and emness since he has at times moaned about being left out of the side and really managers cannot do with bad apples disrupting the side.

im appreciative of what he has done for the club but he's not getting any younger and if he goes to hull his experience will be vital in their target to beat the drop!

  2. i'm personally very disappointed with Boro letting George go anywhere. he's been an exceptional team player and still has a good season or two infront of him. we have been shown too many times in the past for not having the strength in depth and George is going to leave a big hole to be filled. Celtic will be a good move for George but a bad one for the Boro - he certainly isn't past it. we never had the chance to thank him. Good Luck George.

  3. why sign Boateng ? he's past it ..this does not show Celtic as trying to compete but just to hold on , they must be more ambitious
