Juergen Klinsmann has warned Bayern Munich to be wary of an upset after they were drawn away to Rott-Weiss Erfurt in the DFB-Pokal.
Bayern, who won the cup last year thanks to a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund, will travel to the Steigerwald Stadion on August 7 and Klinsmann is keen to avoid an embarrassing first-round result against the third-tier side.
"Rot-Weiss play in the lower leagues, but teams like that are always good for an upset. However, we'll never pretend we're not favourites," the 43-year-old coach told Bayern's official site.
The Allianz-Arena outfit nearly exited last season's competition in the first round after it took a penalty shootout for them to get past lowly SV Wacker.
And midfielder Mark van Bommel does not want a repeat of that night.
He said: "Erfurt are another of the teams for whom the first round of the cup will be the match of the season. I hope it's less nerve-shredding for us and our fans this time."
Bayern will be aiming for a 14th DFB-Pokal success and will take on Erfurt one week before they start the defence of their Bundesliga title against Hamburg.

klinsmann is right bayern can have an embarrassing upset to a lower club team but as an bayern supporter for life i think that we could win cups in germany and europe with the super stars we have. have to say on another note i think that we shouldn't sell podolski and get gomez, podolski is so much better he can play in midfield and forward and he does perform...KEEP PODOLSKI!!!
