Mark Lewis-Francis will need to improve on his performance at the IAAF Grand Prix in Madrid at next weekend's Aviva National Championships.
The former Olympic sprint relay gold medallist missed last year's Olympics with an achilles injury and has struggled in recent years to fulfill the promise he showed as a world junior champion.
His finished sixth in a strong field in Madrid, in a pedestrian time of 10.40 seconds. He was just two-hundredths quicker in his heat.
Jamaica's Steve Mullings comfortably won in 10.11 secs while Portugal's Francis Obikwelu, the two-time European champion, was a distant second in 10.35 secs.
There was also disappointment for Chris Tomlinson who failed to go beyond eight metres as he finished eighth in the long jump - besting with a 7.94 metre effort.
Australia's Fabrice Lapierre won with an 8.57m leap while South Africa's Olympic silver medallist, Godfrey Mokoena, was second.
However, Kate Dennison continues to impress in the women's pole vault - placing second with a season's best 4.56m.
Russia's Aleksandra Kiryashova won but former world record holder, American Stacy Dragila, was a distant seventh.
