Burnley new-boy Martin Paterson insists he is raring to go ahead of Saturday's Championship opener at Sheffield Wednesday. The Clarets completed the signing of the Northern Ireland international from Scunthorpe on a four-year deal in June.
The striker, 21, signed for an initial £1million - with a further £300k dependent on appearances - and is eagerly awaiting the trip to Hillsborough.
Paterson said: "I've been pretty happy with my form so far after scoring three goals in pre-season, but I don't want to peak too early.
"If I'm going to peak it might as well be in the season.
"Overall I've been happy with how I've worked through pre-season though and I'm ready to go."
