Coventry have signed striker Clinton Morrison on a two-year contract - and he could face Norwich in Saturday's Championship curtain-raiser.The 29-year-old has agreed terms with the Sky Blues and will go straight into Chris Coleman's squad for the first game of their league campaign.

Morrison, whose Crystal Palace deal expired at the end of last season, netted 17 league goals for the Eagles in 2007/08 despite an injury-hit campaign.

He told Coventry's website: "I'm delighted to finally have got a deal done.

"Me and Leon McKenzie were strike partners at Palace and he's been calling me all the time telling me I should sign and I'm really pleased.

"I can score goals at this level and now I'm looking forward to doing that for Coventry so I'm hoping I can play some part against Norwich on Saturday."

Coleman was delighted to secure the Republic of Ireland frontman's signature after lengthy negotiations.

"Obviously it's fantastic we've managed to get Clinton over the line," he added.

"He's spent a lot of time training with us and we've made no secret of the fact we wanted him to join us.

"He's a proven goalscorer in the Championship and another example of us trying to add quality to the squad."
