Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has handed a trial to former Everton and Reading midfielder John Oster.The 29-year-old Wales international is a free agent and on the look-out for a new club ahead of the new season after being released by Reading over the summer.

Oster had been training with another Championship side, Derby, but recently turned down their offer of a contract.

He featured for a Palace XI in their 3-2 friendly win over Dover Athletic earlier this week.

Warnock is also running the rule over former Southampton midfielder Leandre Griffit.
