Cavendish Road's previous efforts promoted him to 2-1 favourite in the toteswinger Maiden Auction Stakes at Brighton and he got the run of the race under Richard Hughes to lead throughout.
"He ran below form at Pontefract last time, which I would put down to the ground," said Jonathan Jannaway, representing trainer William Muir.
"He'll probably get a mile, so I should think he will run in a mile nursery next."
There was a welcome winner for Jonathan Geake's Andover yard as 16-1 chance Palais Polaire finally shed her maiden tag in the New Somerfield Brighton North Street Fillies' Handicap.
Marlborough-based Martin Bosley is on the lookout for a new stable and helped himself to some welcome advertising as another rather out-of-form character Lopinot (9-1) dominated in the Totesport 0800 221 221 Handicap.
"My yard is likely to be sold and I've been to look at a couple recently - I'd like to stay fairly local," said Bosley.
"George Baker was going to ride him but he wanted to ride Prince Valentine so we got Fergus Sweeney - who usually rides Prince Valentine himself.
"Fergus said he still had a fair bit in hand."
Rae Guest's yard has hit a formidable winning streak of late and 7lb claimer William Carson continued the momentum in the totexacta Brighton Handicap as he kidded home 2-1 favourite Filligree just half a length in front of Artistic License.
