  1. defoe can score with his feet and his head and is a damn sight faster on his feet than heskey why cappello rates him i have no idea i along with id say the majority of england fans dont want to see heskey played at all unless it was because we had no strikers available through injury

  2. Heskey is a wholehearted player who gives of his best but unfortunately it is not good enough. We are short of good right backs and in the World Cup Johnson may be found wanting against the top sides. Defoe is a sharp shooter but is idle and contributes little else though a bettter bet than Heskey.

I would not pay to see an England friendly the players go through the motions and collect the money but the management learns nothing.

  5. you are correct...he fell, as he is english he falls he doesnt dive, as he did against arsenal about 3 years ago, and as he did against them the other week, and as owen did against argentina about 9 years ago in the world cup...they fall as they are english....they dont dive

  9. Heskey & Defoe cant be compared! They are 2 different players, it all depends on what the manager wants and who the opposition is. Personally against Croatia I think both would work, & Defoe would edge it for me.
GK. Foster (Silly mistake from Green on Saturday & I think young Foster should be given a chance)
RB. Brown (I think he's a better defender than Johnson & a draw is good enough for us)
    LB. A.Cole
CB.Terry - CB. R.Ferdinand (In case some idiots think Anton is good enough for England lol)
    4 Midfielders.
    1. Beckham (I think we could do with some experience on the night, may be Lennon on when they're tiring)
    2. Carrick (Sorry when it comes to passing and taking control of a game, I think Carrick is a better player)
    3. Gerrard - 4. Lampard
    ST. Rooney
    ST. Defoe (Just)

  14. No. 25

I agree with lennon and young on the wings as they have both shown enough hunger, but gerrard and lampard in centre - sorry mate but that just dont work as we have seen many many times before, as neither of them want to take the holding midfield role they both just want to go forward and when the attack then breaks down they both leave us short.

From peteandphoenix, on Mon 7 Sep 12:08PM
  15. rooney didin't want to cheat he fall down and the pen was given he didin't div

  16. @#$%s! What do you Know about football. Defoe is too short. How can he score with his head. England need muscular men like heskey. Croatia will beat England if short man starts. Bet my life savings on this

    From metalbase91, on Mon 7 Sep 12:06PM
  17. What is going on with this England team, they got a lucky penalty and a superb goal from Defoe,he is the in form man so why keep playing Heskey, the team are only average at the moment,a severe test against Croatia will tell us how good they really are,and then there is Spain they spanked Belgium 5 - 0 this is a truely talented side and must be in with a shout for the World cup along with Brazil again. We play the same way in every game, you know what is coming next so the opposition do as well.We might scrape to the last 8 or even a lucky semi final but you can forget about winning that is for sure.

  18. gerrard and lampard sould play in a CM position
young and lennon on the wings

  19. Kevin, when has Gerrard made a great performance for England? Answer: He hasn't. Rooney? goes missing for 5-6 games then scores from a header or dives for a pen. Shouldn't blame only Johnson for the goal either, what was Lescott doing marking the scorer?

From peri, on Mon 7 Sep 11:56AM
  20. Absolutely Ridiculous - I can even remember the last time Heskey got near the goal let alone score.

Sinc Defoe this year is stronger, faster, and knows exactly where the back of the bet is HTF is capella not picking him?

As fo the opinion that he is best used as a sub for the last 25 mins or so, i can see where that opinion comes from, but I have also seen this season how he has played for tottenham, and he has been scoring all through the game not just the last 25 mins

And as others have said if capella really wants to play a big target man there are 2 other players doing much better than Heskey is at the moment.

I guess we will have to just watch in agony on Wednesday every time heskey screws up

But seriously Glen Johnson - AGAIN?
