If Foster had made the same mistakes playing for­ England in important World Cup ties as he has done for­ Utd then the whole of the country would be castigating­ him, and I´m sure Fabio Capello would not be any too­ happy either!! I have nothing against the lad, but at­ the highest level, mistakes are crucial and are often­ the difference between winning and losing titles or­ qualification for Champions League and World Cups. I never thought Ben Foster was good enough for­ Manchester United, and that was even before his­ horrendous blunders this season, you need a world class­ goalkeeper to win the Premier league and Champions­ league, and that's why they've only won the­ Champions league when Schmeicel and Van der Sar were in­ goal.

When Van der Sar calls it a day United will have­ to splash the cash and go and buy the one of the best­ goalkeepers in the world. Fortunately they don't­ usually cost as much as egotistical forwards and­ midfielders who grab the limelight and hence command­ hefty transfer fees.
