Premier League - Drogba wants Vieira at Chelsea

Didier Drogba has urged Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti to make a move for ex-Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira in the January transfer window.

The Premier League leaders are unable to bring in new players due to a transfer embargo imposed by FIFA.

However should the club's appeal against that ruling be successful, Drogba believes veteran midfielder Vieira (pictured) should be the first name on Ancelotti's wish-list.

"It would be a good move for Chelsea to bring Patrick in," the Ivory Coast international said.

"Don't forget we are going to miss several players in January, particularly in midfield, because of the African Nations Cup.

"We played against Vieira last summer and he was very strong."

It has been reported that Vieira, currently at Internazionale, is seen by Ancelotti as ideal cover for Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel, who will both be taken out of the equation by African Cup of Nations duty.

The 33-year-old Vieira was at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to see Chelsea return to the top of the league with victory over Liverpool.

  2. all you gooners n spurs fans shouting out that we­ shouldnt be talking transfers because they have a ban­ in place at Chelsea ..well the club also have an apeal­ in at The European Courts for Justice , I,m told that­ the ban is so extrodinarily harsh and without precedent­ with other clubs that have been charged with similar­ offences, that they stand a better than good chance of­ a partial or total reversal of the Ban,...dont go­ counting your chickens now boys ..Chelsea could yet be­ a big mover in Jnuary.

Vieira is a good footballer,but i dont think he can­ match up with all these young talents in EPL now and he­ might just be a waste of money at the end of day,let­ him play one more season with inter and retire from­ active football and start something better in the sport­ world,afterall is about 34 now and that is football age­ so what are we talking about.anyway the coach knows­ what he want in a particular footballer.
