The 22-year-old has been forced to withdraw after failing to shake off a pelvic injury.

A scan on Tuesday proved inconclusive but, following a visit to a specialist in Cardiff on Wednesday, it was decided that Ledley's injury would not hold up to the rigours of two international games.

Ledley joins fellow midfielders Jack Collison, Simon Davies and Brian Stock in pulling out of the trips to Helsinki and Vaduz.

Wales face Finland on Saturday before travelling to Liechtenstein for their final Group 4 qualifier on Wednesday.

Danny Gabbidon has also withdrawn from John Toshack's squad after picking up a calf injury but the coach will not call up any replacements.

But skipper Craig Bellamy has given Toshack a boost after declaring himself fit after picking up a knee injury while playing, and scoring, for Manchester City against Aston Villa on Monday.
