Winger Jesper Gronkjaer has pulled out of Denmark's 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Hungary because of a knee injury.
The FC Copenhagen wide-man, 32, has played for Chelsea, Birmingham, Atletico Madrid, Stuttgart and Ajax and missed most of 2008 through injury but returned for the second half of last season.
The Danes face Sweden on Saturday in Copenhagen and three points in the Scandinavian derby will send Denmark to the finals in South Africa next year.
Denmark top Group 1 on 18 points, three ahead of second-placed Sweden.
