Caldwell: No regrets over contract outburst

Gary Caldwell has no regrets about going public with his contract frustrations at Celtic.

Before last month's Europa League clash with Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel, the Scotland defender warned he is ready to leave next summer if the Parkhead club fail to meet his demands over a new deal.

Caldwell's current deal expires at the end of the season and he could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.

Since his outburst, some Celtic fans have turned on the player, who was left on the bench by Hoops' manager Tony Mowbray for Sunday's Old Firm defeat by Rangers at Ibrox.

When asked if he had any regrets about revealing his opinions, Caldwell said: "No, not at all. I am an honest person and if someone asks me a question then I will give an honest answer.

"That is how I felt at the time and if Celtic fans are unhappy with that, then that's their opinion. I think I've done a good job over the years and that is how I felt at the time."
