Caldwell calls for Celtic fightback

Gary Caldwell insists Celtic will "come out fighting" at Falkirk on Sunday as they seek to put European disappointment behind them and maintain their place at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Parkhead club's Europa League hopes are hanging by a thread after the goalless draw with Hamburg at the Nordbank Arena on Thursday night.

"We have left ourselves with a lot to do because of the bad start to the Europa League campaign but anything is possible in football," the Scotland defender said. "However, we will keep working at it and now we have to put it behind us for Falkirk. We understand that playing in Europe is tough but we have to recover and come out again fighting on Sunday."

He added: "I think we can take a lot of heart from the performance against Hamburg, there are obviously areas where we need to be better but we have to build on the performance.

"We created better chances on the night than they did although they were better than us on the ball and probably had more of the game.

"But if you miss chances it's going to cost you.

"We've done that over the last few years and we know what it takes but Falkirk will be a tough game.

"We are usually massive favourites in SPL games and we are always under pressure and that's what we have to live with at Celtic. "We will respect Falkirk but I'm sure we will be ready for them."

  4. Clear off Caldwell, we don't want or need you. How dare you speak for Celtic, you are a disgrace to that strip.
I would much rather have rotten performances week in week out and win than have decent performances and win nothing. Mowbray needs his p45 and take Caldwell with him on the way out.

  6. Caldwell , you are a muppett. What gives you the right to speak for Celtic football club. You shouldn't even be at Celtic Park . You are just not good enough . Yes you are going to come out fighting --- against the mighty Falkirk , bottom the league ! Thats where you belong and hopefully where you are heading in the January transfer window. You want more money, try hawking your services about and find your true value. My reckoning is about £500 a week !
Go away , give our ears peace and let us get someone else to fill your position who can play a little.
