Ligue 1 - PSG claim derby spoils to go third
Early goals from Melvut Erding and Guillaume Hoarau gave Paris Saint-Germain a 2-1 derby victory at home to Marseille in Ligue 1.
French-born Turkey striker Erding opened the scoring in the ninth minute and France forward Hoarau doubled their lead 10 minutes later.
Within four minutes Argentine striker Lucho Gonzalez had pulled one back for Marseille, but that was the end of the scoring in a scrappy game at Parc-des-Princes.
The match was shrouded in controversy after away fans were banned in an attempt to prevent repeats of violent clashes between fans.
Marseille had threatened to boycott the game, arguing that it was PSG supporters and not theirs who had been involved in trouble.
The win puts PSG third, one point and one place above Marseille.
OM, however, have a game in hand along with second-placed Rennes, due to the postponement of their Ligue 1 clash last week due to rain.
