Fri 07 Dec, 06:00 PM

Grimsby Town will be without suspended defender Tom Newey for the trip to Griffin Park to play Brentford on Saturday.Newey sits out a one-game ban after reaching five yellow cards, but striker Martin Butler and defender Justin Whittle could return to the substitutes' bench.

Butler, on loan from Walsall, has missed the last four matches with a hamstring injury, while Whittle has been sidelined for five matches due to an ankle problem.

Mariners manager Alan Buckley could be forced to make further changes as Gary Jones and Peter Till are both struggling with illness, Nick Fenton has a bruised foot and Danny North is nursing a dead-leg.

Isaiah Rankin is on stand-by for North, while Buckley is expected to retain his midfield quartet of Ciaran Toner, Danny Boshell, Paul Bolland and James Hunt.
