Griffin Park, FOOTBALL - 0

The Lionel Road site near Griffin Park was identified by Brentford as the preferred location for a new ground back in 2002 and is currently being used for mixed-industrial purposes.

Brentford's plans for the site include building a new multi-million pound stadium to use for rugby and football, as well as a health centre, leisure centre, social enterprise business centre, hotel and conference facilities.

The club also propose that Griffin Park will be redeveloped into residential housing when the new stadium is built and excess land on the Lionel Road will be used for housing.

Through its subsidiary company Brentford FC (Lionel Road) Ltd, Brentford have entered into negotiations with a major residential developer to ensure the project progresses.

"This is a major milestone and a huge step forward for the Club," Brentford chairman Greg Dyke told the club's official website.

"We need a modern new stadium, we want to keep the club in Brentford, we want a brighter financial future and this deal will help us do all three. Our aim is to move into a stadium in Lionel Road and move there as a club free of debt.

"This combined with the additional non-football income which evidence shows a new ground can generate, will secure the financial future of the Club and enable us to build an exciting future."
