Tottenham Hotspur ensured their progress to the knockout stages of the UEFA Cup with a 1-1 Group G draw at Anderlecht.
The result means that Spurs can finish no lower than second in the five team group, with the top three passing through to the next phase.
Bart Goor put the hosts ahead midway through the second half with a cool finish after some dreadful defending by Juande Ramos' men, but the English side won a penalty almost immediately when Jermaine Jenas was fouled by Anderlecht full back Marcin Wasilewski.
There are expected to be ramifications for Anderlecht after Spurs defender Didier Zokora was struck on the head by an object, believed to be a lighter, thrown from the crowd towards the end of the match.
Spurs keeper Paul Robinson was also seen to present several metallic items that had been hurled onto the pitch, including one that appeared to be over a foot long.
Spurs started in style, Steed Malbranque showing the country of his birth just why he is becoming one of the North London side's stand-out players with an audacious bicycle kick only seconds after kick-off. Mbo Mpenza, 31 years old this week, was a touch slow to react five minutes later when found in the area by impressive Anderlecht full back Olivier Deschachts, while Jenas was only inches away from converting a Pascal Chimbonda centre soon afterwards.
The open, end-to-end start did not last much longer, however, with an excellent Jenas free kick nodded behind at the death by Nicolas Frutas just before the half hour and a good save by Robinson from Wasilewski just before the break saving Spurs' bacon after a dreadfully casual pass by Tom Huddlestone was intercepted.
Spurs started the second half in style, breaking with intent through Chimbonda, whose surging run culminated in a drag-back to Robbie Keane on the edge of the box who sent a low drive in that was well-saved by Czech keeper Daniel Zitka.
But Frutos almost forced his way through for the hosts five minutes later, excellent covering by Michael Dawson forcing him to shoot early, the finish well-blocked by the brave Robinson, while Mpenza was sent past the last defender and only foiled by a quite superb tackle by Zokora, filling in as a centre back with Younes Kaboul left out.
Dimitar Berbatov was introduced by Ramos for the oddly quiet Keane and almost immediately forced Zitka into action with a great free kick, but soon afterwards the hosts went ahead when first Zokora missed a simple header to allow Mpenza to knock it wide to French sub Cyril Thereau, who simply cut the ball across the edge of the box past Dawson and Jenas, who merely stood and watched as Goor snuck in unchallenged to finish past the helpless Robinson.
Spurs, however, were not to be undone and straight from the kick-off Jenas burst through and was crudely hacked down by Wasilewski, who was lucky to escape with just a yellow card.
Berbatov nonchalantly stroked the ball into the bottom left to level matters and, despite a few moves involving Jermain Defoe and Ahmed Hassan, the draw was held on to with the only real late drama the hooliganism that saw Zokora hit the deck in his own box.
