Notts County manager Ian McParland has admitted striker Sean Canham is winning his battle to establish a regular place in the starting line-up.Canham, who kept County in the FA Cup last weekend with a timely equaliser against Kettering, celebrated his first league start with the winner in the 1-0 victory over Morecambe.
The goal came in first-half injury time, inspired by fine work on the left by Jamie Clapham. His cross picked out Delroy Facey and when he nodded the ball down, Canham pounced from close-range.
And McParland believes the striker, who scored 42 goals for Team Bath last season, is set to figure regularly on County's scoresheet.
He said: "The goal was typical of Sean because he just seems to have the knack of appearing in the right place at the right time.
"It was a real poacher's goal but there is a lot more to him than just putting the ball in the net.
"He's worked very hard on his fitness since he joined us in the summer, has improved out of all recognition in the air and is becoming a much better all-round player."
