Macclesfield assistant manager Gary Simpson was left fuming with the dismissal of Matthew Flynn in the 1-1 draw with Bury at Moss Rose. The home side were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute when the youngster was sent off for a second bookable offence after fouling David Buchanan.
Simpson said: "We were angered with the dismissal of Matthew Flynn. Martin Gritton had been systematically fouled all afternoon but Flynn gets sent off for a tiny niggle."
Macclesfield took the lead in the sixth minute when Simon Yeo's header hit the crossbar and strike partner Gritton pounced on the rebound with a close-range header for his third goal in five games.
But their joy was shortlived as Andy Bishop released Stephen Dawson and he completed a surging run with an arrow-like drive inside the near post.
Simpson added: "We're very disappointed with only a point. We certainly deserved to win on the standard of play."
