A last-gasp goal by Brazilian striker Amauri gave Juventus a 2-1 win at Lecce on Sunday while injury-ravaged Milan beat Catania 1-0 at the San Siro thanks to a Kaka goal and Diego Milito gave Genoa a 1-0 win at Sampdoria in the Genovese derby.
Amauri nodded home in the 90th minute after Lecce's Daniele Cacia had cancelled out a fine 57th-minute free kick by Sebastian Giovinco.
Kaka's 65th-minute header from a corner, which took a touch from Catania defender Lorenzo Stovini on the way into the net, was enough to end Milan's four-match winless run in all competitions.
Second-placed Milan and third-placed Juventus, who meet in Turin next weekend, both have 30 points from 15 games, six behind champions Internazionale, who won 3-0 at Lazio a day earlier.
Lecce 1-2 Juventus
Juve had plenty of possession in the first half but posed little threat to the tidy hosts.
They looked more dangerous after the break when Italy under-21 forward Giovinco, standing in for injured captain Alessandro Del Piero, drove into the top corner to score his first goal in Serie A with the Old Lady.
Lecce responded well to falling behind and Jose Castillo wasted a great chance before Cacia levelled with a delightful volley.
But Amauri's goal meant it was all to no avail for the southern side, who have not won a league match since September.
Milan 1-0 Catania
Milan made a bright start at the San Siro despite being without a host of injured regulars, including forwards Ronaldinho and Marco Borriello and midfielders Clarence Seedorf, Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Ambrosini.
Andriy Shevchenko, Paolo Maldini and Emerson all came close early on and Kaka had a shot pushed onto the post shortly after Catania forward Giuseppe Mascara had hit the woodwork at the other end.
Milan suffered after taking the lead in the second half. Mascara had a header well saved in the closing stages, when the visitors also had a penalty shout for hand ball by Kakha Kaladze denied.
Sampdoria 0-1 Genoa
Serie A top-scorer Diego Milito headed his 12th goal of the season five minutes into the second half to give Genoa the derby spoils.
Sampdoria's Hugo Campagnaro and Bruno Fornaroli had goals disallowed for offside afterwards, although the second was a close call.
Otherwise, there was plenty of tough tacking and 11 yellow cards but few clear chances.
Atalanta 3-0 Udinese
Atalanta dominated throughout and took the lead on 20 minutes when Chilean midfielder Jaime Valdes steered the ball into the corner from the edge of the box.
Cristiano Doni headed in the second in the 78th and former Italy striker Christian Vieri came off the bench to seal it two minutes from time as early pacesetters Udinese slumped to their fifth consecutive league defeat.
Cagliari 1-0 Palermo
Midfielder Michele Fini tapped home an Andrea Cossu cross in the 34th to win it for the Sardinians, although TV replays suggested he may have been offside.
Palermo were unlucky not to level in the second half when Edison Cavani headed on to the crossbar.
Napoli 2-0 Siena
Napoli made sure they remained fourth with an impressive second-half display.
Unmarked midfielder Christian Maggio sidefooted home a Marek Hamsik cross just after the hour and Argentine striker German Denis slid in to make it 2-0 10 minutes later.
Reggina 2-2 Bologna
The visitors came back with goals by Francesco Valiani and Marco Di Vaio after Bernardo Corradi and Edgar Barreto had twice fired Reggina in front.
It was former Lazio, Inter Milan and Serbia defender Sinisa Mihajlovic's fifth draw on the run since he took charge as coach of the struggling promoted side last month.
Torino 1-4 Fiorentina
Torino coach Gianni De Biasi is in serious danger of losing his job after his side went down to goals by Adrian Mutu, Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Alberto Gilardino's brace.
Alessandro Rosina converted a penalty in the 77th to pull one back for the hosts before Gilardino made it 4-1 in the closing stages with his 11th goal of the season.
Comment 1 - 1 of 1
Giovinco is the future of Juventus, more magic from the "Atomic Ant" is on the way ! But also watch out for more Juve youngster getting through like De Ceglie, Marchisio, Pasquato, Fausto Rossi and Ekdal.
