Peterborough have broken their transfer record to sign Norwich goalkeeper Joe Lewis for £400,000 on a four-and-a-half year deal. The 20-year-old has just returned to Carrow Road after a successful loan stint at Morecambe, but finds his path to goal at the Canaries blocked by David Marshall and Matthew Gilks.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson told the club's official website: "I feel that you don't get too many opportunities to make signings like this very often and I am delighted to sign such a highly-rated goalkeeper.

"Joe was outstanding in the two matches for Morecambe against us and he has tremendous potential."

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: "He was the gaffer's number one target in the transfer window and we went and broke our record to sign him.

"I have no doubt that he will be a massive success at Posh as we head towards the Premier League."

Meanwhile Canaries boss Glenn Roeder told his club's official website: "With a young and talented goalkeeper in the shape of David Marshall currently in goal and Matthew Gilks on his way back from injury, Joe's opportunities for first-team football with us have been limited.

"Understandably he wants first-team football and everybody at Norwich wishes Joe all the best."
