Duffy produces goods for Swans

Tue 08 Jan, 10:30 PM

Darryl Duffy's first goal in four months was enough for Swansea to see off Brighton in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Area semi-final.Duffy diverted Angel Rangel's deflected cross beyond Michel Kuipers to break the deadlock in the ninth minute and put them within touching distance of a place at Wembley.

Swansea dominated from the off and Duffy's header proved decisive to set up a two-legged final against MK Dons.

Guillem Bauza missed a great chance to increase the home side's lead when he somehow failed to hit the target after meeting Andrea Orlandi's centre.

Swansea continued to dominate and Joe Allen came close before Garry Monk found space but could only head over in a one-sided contest.

Brighton rarely threatened in either half, with Dean Cox and Nicky Forster failing to beat Dorus de Vries when well placed.
