Preston manager Alan Irvine admits he would prefer to face Derby than Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round of the FA Cup.North End beat Scunthorpe 1-0 at Deepdale last weekend to book their fourth-round spot.
Monday's draw handed them a trip to the winners of the replay between Wednesday and Derby, who are languishing at the bottom of the Premier League.
Irvine said: "I do hope it is Derby, not because I have got anything against Sheffield Wednesday but because I'd rather we were going to play a Premiership team.
"If it's a Championship team they don't generate as much interest as playing someone from higher up would do.
"I'm sure our fans would look at it and think that we have got a chance of getting a result," he told the club's official website.
