Tue 08 Jan, 01:15 PM

Shrewsbury chairman Roland Wycherly believes the League Two club have a promising future ahead following their move to a new stadium.Wycherly discussed a key year for the Shrews in his Chairman's Report, which was released early on the club's website ahead of their Annual General Meeting, which will be held on February 20.

In the report Wycherly said: "In a year when we enjoyed the financial benefits of going to Wembley and also sizeable income from commercial activities, we achieved a trading profit of £33,000.

"Without these one-offs we would once again have been facing a trading loss, underlining the financial challenges the club continues to face.

"This is why the stadium move is so crucial. We start now with a clean sheet - with outstanding facilities and without debt. While new stadia are often linked with years of pain to pay off building costs, we own ours straight."

"Much has been achieved, but much remains to be done. Above all, I genuinely believe exciting times lie ahead."
