Port Vale boss Lee Sinnott looks likely to miss out on Manchester City midfielder Marc Laird but is still hopeful of bringing in fresh faces.Sinnott has made just one signing during the January transfer window so far, bringing in defender Adam Eckersley from Manchester United on a free transfer.
Now the former Farsley Celtic boss admits he is having to be patient in his pursuit of further acquisitions.
He told the club's official website: "It is not as straight forward as picking up the phone and inviting a player to come to Vale Park.
"Sometimes you have to wait for other clubs to conclude their business before you can conclude your business with that club.
"We are working hard behind the scenes and we are fully aware of where we need to improve and we are working extremely hard to do so.
"Decisions will be made in the best interest of Port Vale regardless of individuals and that policy won't change."
