Wilson wish-list ever changing

Tue 08 Jan, 01:45 PM

Hartlepool manager Danny Wilson admits his transfer priorities are constantly changing and has questioned the current transfer windows. With local media linking the League One side to various targets in the January transfer window, Wilson explained his moves will depend on the situation of his current players and the availability of his targets.

He told the club's official website: "Linking us with everyone is about correct because we have had about everybody on our sheets but it's about availability.

"From one day to the next our priority changes whether due to injuries, suspensions or loss of form and as the month goes on it will continue to change but we'll keep trying and hopefully we'll have some success."

The Pools boss also revealed he does not "see the purpose" of the transfer window rules which limits English Football League clubs to signing players during July, August and January.

He added: "Certainly in this country it doesn't work and I don't think it benefits anyone at all, particularly the smaller clubs. There's clubs up and down the country who at this time of the year don't have any injuries or suspensions so they won't feel the need for it, but all of a sudden when the window closes they'll have four injuries and three suspensions and they wont be able to strengthen."
