The Finn broke a 1-1 tie with his first goal, 11:06 into the second period, then scored again 2:11 into the third period.

The victory snapped the Stars's (24-16-4) longest losing streak in more than four years and moved them into a tie with the San Jose Sharks for the Pacific Division lead.

"We worked harder than the last few games, cut down on turnovers and did the things we know we can do," Miettinen said.

Mike Ribeiro, who signed a five-year contract with Dallas earlier in the day, assisted on both of Miettinen's goals. That gave him 25 assists for the season.

Brenden Morrow also had two assists, boosting his total to 26 for the season.

"We got aggressive and got our nose dirty a little bit," Morrow said.

"That's where the chances came from. This was a big way to break out of that streak and get back to what we can do."

Rookie Matt Niskanen collected Dallas's first goal, scoring 5:50 into the second period.

Mark Parrish levelled the score three minutes later with his second-period goal for Minnesota. Dallas netminder Marty Turco made 18 saves for the win.

"Turco played very well and made key saves for us," Dallas coach Dave Tippett said.

"We were trying to stop the bleeding and we know we are a team that needs certain things in order. We got those tonight." The Wild's Niklas Backstrom stopped 27 shots.

The Edmonton Oilers used a three-goal second-period and Mathieu Garon's 35 saves to shut out the visiting New York Islanders 4-0.

Ales Hemsky, Shawn Horcoff and Marty Reasoner each scored goals in the deciding period. Jarrett Stoll added a powerplay goal in the third.

The Anaheim Ducks scored four goals in an eight-minute, second-period run and beat the Nashville Predators 5-2 to snap the Predators' three-game win streak.
