Thu 08 Jan, 04:40 PM

LONDON (AFP) - Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in a car crash near Manchester airport Thursday, but was not injured, police said.

"Officers attended and discovered a Ferrari had collided with a barrier. No one is believed to have been injured," said a statement by Greater Manchester Police.

No further details were immediately available, but the BBC reported that the footballer's car was a write-off.

The Portugal international played as a second-half substitute in United's 1-0 defeat away to Derby County in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
