Defending champion Andy Murray charged into the quarter-finals of the ATP Doha event in Qatar with a 6-2 6-4 victory over Germany's Philipp Petzschner.
The world number four needed just over an hour to dismiss Petzschner and will now face either Austrian qualifier Alexander Peya or Sergiy Stakhovsky in the quarter-finals.
The US Open finalist was forced to work hard in the opening games of the match but was rarely troubled by his opponent, who is currently enjoying a career-high world ranking at number 66.
Murray used his strength around the court to secure his first break of serve in just the third game, albeit at the fifth attempt, and quickly reinforced his lead with a second break in the seventh game before serving out the set when Petzschner hit wide.
Petzschner also conceded his serve in the third game of the second set, to love, with a series on unforced errors.
Murray then quietly served out the match in the 10th game, sealing the quarter-final spot at the second attempt when Petzschner dumped a backhand into the net.

It's cold in Doha!
clive e - you're not middle class, you're not working class - you have no class at all ! You're an embarrassment to the rest of us English people on here.
dangordon2000,comm 40, clive e seems to be a bit of a sad man, just try not to lower yourself to his standards,im an Engishman and a Federer fan first and formost, but im a fan of Murray too.Ive met him and his mum too ,really nice people.Murray IS the real deal, massive talent and his best is yet to come.Just a thought mate,I thing Henman did very well considering the game he had,4 in the world and top ten for most of his career,he just didnt have any big weapons, something Murray has. Go for it Andy we are all behind you.

Oh yes there are!!!
why are all of a sudden just articles about Murray??? No Federer or Nadal anymore...get your act together Eurosport, here aren't just British people...
clive,a really intelligent comment from a typical keyboard hardman, pathetic.
wm-rae Just the intelligent comment I'd expect from a scottish t**t. I used to think I was working class then one day I had to visit sweaty land and I realised I was middle class.
clive e,how can you say this talented young man is a born loser.Let us all NEVER forget that Andy Murray survived one of the most traumatic and disturbing events in British history, the massacre of children at his school in Dunblane by a madman with guns !!!! The fact he is not so traumatized that he cant lead a normal life is testament to his courage and character.Your comments are in extreme bad taste,if he were your child and and not only survived that terrible day,but achieved what he has already,im sure you would be a VERY proud man.
No. 27 Whoa whoa whoa, hold it there. Who says Nadal does not have likeability? Stay in ur shack and spit nonsense. He has brought life to the game where it was dying. His crushing of the Great Federer gave/has given other players, Murray inclusive they can beat and they do these days. Visit other blogs and see how popular Nadal is. Every famous person has people who love them and does who do not and that is fair - that's life. By the way I do not like Murray as a peso but think he is a great sports person. I love the challenge he birngs to the game. I will be rootig for Nadal though in all the competitions this year bu that's not the way my bet will always go.
clive e your a @#$%.
i am english and laugh at how many times a sportsman from wales ,scotland or northern ireland is suddenly referred to as british when they start winning!
Great Murray, come on, you can win again this tournement.
Numpty! haha and you're calling me the loser!
Yes I commented on the wrong article, but Murray has beaten Nadal and Federer, whether in a "promo jolly" or not they still lost, and if Murray can beat them now he can do it when the "proper business" starts.
I commented on the @#$% comments left beforehand about racism and other @#$%, but yes you're right beating Nadal wasn't in this tournament, I had left the comp for a minute and forgot I had changed articles.
Doesn't change the fact he won though now does it
Nicichallacombe you numpty, Murray didn't beat Nedal or Federer in "This tornament" He beat them in an promo jolly with no ranking points at stake, but huge appearence money. Wait till the proper business starts, the Oz open!!! Murray will be shown up for the bottler he is. No class no talent and a sweaty to boot. Born loser
Maybe if Nadal had some personality or even some likeability, maybe people would talk about him more
I think Murray is amazing, he's so firey!
Why are people making such a big deal of Murray being mentioned on this site so much?
This is a British site, he is a British player, the world no.4 and he beat the top two seeds in this tournament. Of course he will be mentioned! He played well and he deserves to be mentioned, yet if he had lost to Nadal, Nadal would have got just as big an article as this one.
Go on a Spanish website and see how much of a mention Murray or Federer get!
Stop moaning about racists, it's pathetic to just chuck that word about whenever two players from different countries play each other. Murray will be mentioned more on a British website than a Spanish one, and vice versa for Nadal. You want to read about how great he is? Go to Spanish Eurosport.
It isn't racist, it's just supporting different players and having different views.
Well done Murray, good win
