Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski's wish to rejoin Cologne looks increasingly like becoming a reality after the two clubs agreed a fee.
The Germany international was being tracked by a number of European clubs, including Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Roma, but a return to his former club was always Podolski's priority following his underwhelming three-year spell at Bayern.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed Cologne's latest bid, saying: "They have made a new bid and it looks fine.
"There is no big difference any more, though I'm confident this could really happen."
Podolski joined the German giants after helping his country to the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup, but has only managed 12 Bundesliga goals in his three seasons at the club, and is behind Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose in the Bayern pecking order.
Rumours had been circulating about a possible swap deal involving Hamburg striker Ivica Olic, who has signed a pre-contract with Bayern ahead of a summer move to the club.
However, Rummenigge denied this, saying: "I don't see any chance of that happening at the moment. The player only wants to join Cologne."
