Lampre aim for fitness Down Under
Lampre-ISD directeur sportif Bruno Vicino is hoping his team's upcoming appearances in Australia will help improve his riders' fitness levels.
Seven members of the Italian outfit flew out to the southern hemisphere for season opening races the Down Under Classic and the Tour Down Under.
And while some members of his squad are not yet up to full fitness, Vicino is confident the two outings will give them a boost physically.
"The aim is to begin the season in the best way that our cyclists' condition will allow," he said.
"We'll face riders who have already reached good fitness levels. That's why it won't be easy to put in top performances and that's why the maximum care will be needed.
"(Manuele) Mori is the cyclist of ours who is in the best condition, as he was able to train in California with good weather.
"Then it will be interesting to evaluate the debut of Aitor Perez Arrieta, the enthusiasm of the youngsters Alfredo Balloni and Vitaliy Buts and the usual experience by Matteo Bono, Daniele Righi and Alessandro Spezialetti."
