Brandy hopes to earn Swans start

Fri 08 Feb, 01:00 PM

League leaders Swansea travel to Crewe with loan signing Febian Brandy pushing for a place in manager Roberto Martinez's starting eleven. The Manchester United striker stepped off the bench to score the winner in the 2-1 win over Oldham last weekend and could now be handed his first start for the high-flying Swans.

The fitness of fellow forward Jason Scotland will also be assessed when he returns from international duty with Trinidad & Tobago.

Left-back Marcos Painter misses out as he serves a one-match ban to leave Alan Tate and Kevin Austin to jostle it out for a place in Martinez's side.

Darren Pratley returns from a two-game suspension and could slot straight back into the midfield while Paul Anderson (thigh) and Andrea Orlandi (knee) remain sidelined.

Midfield duo Owain Tudur-Jones (ankle) and Darren Way (hamstring) both came unscathed through a reserve-team outing in midweek but only the latter has any chance of being involved against the Alex.

Tudur-Jones, meanwhile, could be back involved in the senior side within the next fortnight.
