Colchester will be without Mark Yeates when they head to Burnley on Saturday but new signing Dean Hammond could be in line for his debut.Former Tottenham winger Yeates is expected to be out for a fortnight after suffering a dislocated shoulder during last weekend's draw with Sheffield United.
Hammond, a deadline day signing from Brighton, was suspended for the Blades clash and could step straight into the midfield in the Championship clash at Turf Moor.
Johnnie Jackson could move out the left wing to replace Yeates, although Kevin McLeod might come into contention after his recent struggle with sciatica.
Defender Pat Baldwin (knee) and midfielder Kevin Watson (Achilles) played for the reserves in midweek to prove their fitness, so goalkeeper Aidan Davison (shoulder) remains the only long-term absentee.
