Kubica facing more surgery
Mon, 07 Feb 16:27:00 2011
Robert Kubica faces more surgery to fix his broken foot and shoulder and is likely to stay in hospital for two to three weeks, according to his Renault Formula One team.
The Pole was operated on for seven hours by two teams of surgeons on Sunday when he sustained multiple fractures to his right hand, leg and arm after a high-speed crash in a minor rally in Italy.
The big concern at the time, apart from considerable blood loss, concerned his right hand with Kubica's forearm cut in two places with significant lesions to the bones and tendons.
Kubica is one of Formula One's brightest prospects, a good friend of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Renault's leading driver.
"On Thursday, Robert should undergo some more surgery in order to stabilise the fractures to his right shoulder and right foot," the Lotus-backed team said in an update on the 26-year-old's progress.
"Three or four days later, another operation will allow his elbow fracture to be stabilised as well."
News Kubica
Renault said Kubica's general condition had continued to improve overnight.
"According to the doctors, the levels of inflammation are in the norm considering his medical condition, and the recovery of his forearm remains encouraging.
"Yesterday, Robert was able to talk to his doctors and relatives. His medication makes him sleep quite a lot, but he is responding to all external stimulation," the team added.
"He has reacted well to the news about his condition and is ready to fight for his comeback."
Renault said Kubica was likely to stay at the Santa Corona Hospital near Genoa for two to three weeks before a decision was taken about where he should continue his rehabilitation.
The season starts in Bahrain on March 13 with Renault resigned to losing him for at least the first two months and possibly the entire championship.
No replacement has been named.

I JUST WANT TO WISH ROBERT ALL THE VERY BEST FOR THE MAJOR SURGERY HE IS UNDERGOING AGAIN TODAY !!!!!
I thought that was what this all about and not having morons taking it over or pathetic discussions between people who need to get a life.
If you cannot say anything in support of Robert then go elsewhere and carry on with your childish tit for tat games.
Here we go again! The F1 season hasn't even started and already these comments pages are hijacked by a bunch of twats posting little globules of verbal diarrhoea to each other. About 15% of the latest comments are actually relevant to the subject matter; the other 85%, like their authors, are a total waste of space. Come on guys; arrange a time and place to meet up, get yourselves a room and have yourselves a ball. Just leave the rest of us out of it.
On topic: Good luck Robert, wishing you a full and speedy recovery.
Whoever Renault/Lotus take on lets hope he's a racer and not just a driver.
Wonder what Villeneuve Jr. is doing right now?
Well said thereal.wizzo I know that you regularly knock 60lb of excrement out of Zoe but I still love you.
Mark Wizzo Swindells the famous paedo and dognobber is Bingo Boy's best backend buddy. Wizzo the dognobber also has stratospheric stupidity and at times make bingo boy look only moronic, which is quite a feat.
This poor specimen of a human being tried to convince us that you could change an engine valve without taking the cylinder heads off. Neat trick huh!
But then he backed off a bit and tried to convince us that you could only do it some of the F1 engines with this wonderful piece of nonsense:
.
Post 82,questionable id,rules are rules but different engines require different applications because of unique construction.Make of that what you will but sometimes like life, there is not a given answer to what you consider a straight question.

Certainly you don't give a straight answer to a straight question dognobber and I thought the application for an F1 engine was to stuff it in a mid-engined position in an F1 chassis and link it to the gearbox etc. Just goes to show how much I know. lol
I love it when an idiot like this is trying to look clever, the harder mark wizzo tries the more stupid he looks. You would think he would have worked it out by now.

OK so the truth is out. I go out get drunk and then beat Zoe up when I roll home from the pub. Well you don't expect me to pick fights with blokes do you?
Well who is the idiot? I don't go out to work, so who pays for my booze? You lot do, the great british tax payer. Thank you very much. hic hic hic. Cheap cider and sherry has got a lot going for it, thanks again suckers.
Still what woman do you no who has any idea about the offside rule? Viva Andy Gray.
I used to be Bishop and a Liar King till I lost everything now I am a Rabbi and a Deacon ! So what.
Rob, the armco has saved thousands of lives by causing a controlled deceleration of the car , just because a few people have come off worse because of it, you cant deny the benifits
@ 443
Ok Nick.....I believe you, thousands wouldn`t!
@Phil Merrit 431- The car withstood a terrible impact at 125kph - the problem was not the car but the design of the armco. World wide over 5000 deaths a year are attributed to armco design but no one does a flucking thing about it! Next time you come across an armco at the start of it - have a look how terrible the design is. Anything hitting it is looking death in the face. I saw a Volvo XC attack one recently and it went 20 meters with the armco coming out the rear door taking the driver and one rear passenger in pieces with it. Two other occupants lost a leg and arm - one died 5 days later. We are told to do 25mph in areas where you "might" have an accident and thereby try to reduce the death rate - we will need a man with a bloody red flak to walk in front b4 long! But does anyone do anything about the armco? Nope - just hit them and die!
No Mark I am still around,
.
Touronroute rang wizzpop up one day and said "Hey wizzo I am getting a dog, a Labrador."
"Are you sure?" said the plucky little man from Aldershot, "most of their owners go blind very quickly."

Boom Boom
@bankrobbas3 at the end of the day he is a racing driver its what they do & if i was Kubica I'd of been in the Rally too
If this was Lewis i would be saying,@#$% where you thinking this close to the start of the season. Now why you got to go and do that?.Ruining what could of been a good year.
Then i woulded be wondering if i could watch the season without my favourate driver on the f1 grid .That would be truely awfull,so i don't think it would be right to critize

I have been so happy since me and touron declared our love for one another. Touron must dump wizzo though.
Many peeps on here think we are one and the same person.
They cite the fact that we are both stupid - fair enough, our English grammar and spelling is rubbish and we cant put a decent sentence together.
But I have to say that I am a idiot in my own right, I am naturally stupid without being the brainless one. ie muppetroute.
I hate the smelly fat old git.
Oh...I didn`t see you down there Leeroy (Fore)Skin @ 437 & 438....hows it going, led?
@ 440
