Leading scorer Andy Bishop was Bury's match-winner with a well-taken double to down Morecambe 2-1 at Gigg Lane on Saturday afternoon. The former York striker took his goal tally to 22 goals for the season, netting in each half to hand Alan Knill's battling team three welcome points.
Stewart Drummond pulled a goal back for the visitors at Gigg Lane, but it was not enough to stop Bury registering their first league win over Morecambe.
Having dominated the first half, the home side got their break just before half-time. Nicky Adam's pinpoint cross from the left-wing found Bishop unmarked at the back post to poke home past Morecambe keeper Shwan Jalal.
And just three minutes into the second-half Bishop bagged Bury's second goal of the game after Carl Baker lost the ball deep in his own half, chased back and needlessly felled Adams in his own area - and Bishop coolly slotted home the spot-kick.
However, the job was far from done and Drummond headed in a Garry Thompson corner two minutes later, his first goal since December, to give Sammy McIlroy's team hope.
