Burnley midfielder Chris McCann is facing the prospect of several weeks stranded on the sidelines with a thigh strain.The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international picked up the injury in his side's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Hull in midweek.

The 20-year-old has impressed Clarets boss Owen Coyle enough to start in the majority of games this season, scoring five goals, as Burnley continue to push for a play-off place.

"We will have to get Chris's thigh strain looked at," Coyle told the club's official website.

"I would think he will have to miss a few games now though, which is a blow as because he is an integral part of what we are trying to do here."
