Brentford ended a run of four straight defeats with a 1-0 home win over Macclesfield - but left it until almost the last kick of the game.It came when winger Glenn Poole ghosted in at the far post to head home Alan Connell's far-post cross to make the visitors pay for their time-wasting.
It was only Town keeper Jon Brain who kept his side in it with a succession of breathtaking saves in a flurry in the last 10 minutes as he first kicked Nathan Elder's volley onto the bar and then denied Gary Smith with a reflex save.
Defender Neil Ashton also cleared off the line as the Londoners laid siege to the Macclesfield goal as the visitors rarely threatened in a game dominated by the Brentford midfield.
