Premier League - Gossip Shop: Terry, Cole for sale

Eurosport - Sun, 08 Mar 19:56:00 2009

John Terry and Ashley Cole could both be shown the door by Chelsea in the summer after embarrassing themselves outside a London nightclub last week.

Ashley Cole and John Terry - 0

According to friends of Guus Hiddink, quoted in the Daily Star (Gossip Shop sources do not get any more authoritative), the pair have left their new manager fuming and he "just won't tolerate" the booze culture in English football.

All of which could smooth Terry's £20 million move to Manchester City, a club who single-handedly keep GS in business with their infinite suitcases of hard cash and lusting for anything with an eight-figure price tag.

As for Cole, GS is tipping the increasingly unpopular, adulterous full-back for a possible move into television. Can you think of a better vehicle for his "intellectual conversation" than a show like QI?

The bad news for Chelsea continues with the story that Werder Bremen midfielder Diego will "snub" the club in the summer and opt for a move to Juventus instead. The Brazilian is apparently excited about life in Italy and wants to win the Ballon d'Or in Turin. That's if you believe his dad.

Staying on the dads theme, we move to Arsenal's interest in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso. Veloso's dad has hinted at a move away from Portugal for his son and Arsene Wenger - who loves them young and European - is licking his lips.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are altruistically planning to end David Bentley's "Spurs hell" with a summer move for the £15m midfielder. According to the News of the World, Martin O'Neill is looking to bolster the depth of his squad and the former 'Next David Beckham' fits the bill.

Talking of Beckham, it seems his beloved AC Milan are toying with the idea of making £30m bids for Manchester United central defenders Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans. GS can't see the dark lord of Old Trafford taking kindly to that one.

Sir Alex Ferguson would much rather talk about Argentine midfielder Nicolas Bertolo, who is currently plying his trade for Atletico Banfield in South America. United are considering a £4m bid.

Finally, a mention for the GS staple that is Robinho. The mercurial Brazilian will stay at Manchester City next season if you believe The Mail on Sunday. Even if he does, you can be sure GS will devote approximately 32.5m column inches to the possibility he will go elsewhere - Brighton are apparently extremely interested.

  6. Terry is a great player and one of the first names you would want on your sheet, but unfortunately he is a plank, a thug and uncultured...definately not England captain material..Bobby Moore led the way, and is revered to this day for his class..give the job to Ferdinand...a former bad boy who has knuckled down and mended his ways, and his football is class

JOHN TERRY IS NOT MUCH BETTER - ENGLAND CAPTAIN??? THEY ARE BOTH A DISGRACE.

  9. Chelsea can easily afford to let Cole go. He's an above average Premiership player, but no more than that! As for Terry, he may not be the most elegant footballer, but who wouldn't want him on their side.

  20. i agree with comment 40, chelsea would be stupid to get rid of players of that caliber without finding a replacement, just look at the lack of confidence chelsea get with set pieces when terry is injured/banned, although English players in the top 4 teams? there's loads maybe not in arsenal but there is in united.. Rooney, Scholes (even though he is retired) Carrick, Hargreaves (not sure what his nationality is but he can play for England) Neville, Brown, Ferdiand and Foster
