Cirstea books Indian Wells berth
Romanian 12th seed Sorana Cirstea booked her place in the main draw for Indian Wells with another comeback win.
The former French Open quarter-finalist, who was forced to recover from a set down in her first qualifying match against Sabine Lisicki, battled past Puerto Rican Monica Puig 3-6 6-4 6-1 to ensure her berth in next week's WTA tournament.
French third seed Alize Cornet also booked her place in the main draw with a 6-3 4-6 6-0 win over Russian Vesna Manasieva.
The clash was characterised by poor serving, 12 from Cornet and nine from Manasieva, and it took two hours and 14 minutes before the Frenchwoman could finally make her dominance tell.
She will be joined in the main draw by 19th seed Kristen Flipkens after the Belgian dismissed fourth seed Mathilde Johansson 6-4 6-1.
Zhang Shuai, Lucie Hradecka and Laura Pous-Tio, seeded seven, eight and nine respectively also booked their places in the draw with wins.
