Bundesliga - Arsenal 'agree £10.9m Podolski deal'
Widespread reports indicate Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Germany forward Lukas Podolski in the summer.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have agreed in principle a transfer worth £10.9 million, with Podolski, 26, set to earn as much as £100,000 a week at Emirates Stadium.
The news is reported in German daily Bild as well as many English newspapers on Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker claimed he had been in contact with his international team-mate and that Podolski was keen on joining the club.
"He has been very interested in the past few weeks and has sent me a number of text messages," Mertesacker told Sky Deutschland.
"I've told him that this is a great place to work and that Arsenal are an amazing club. Nothing has been agreed on yet, though, and Lukas hasn't given me a ring yet."
Podolski - who spent three unproductive years with Bayern Munich earlier in his career - has scored 16 goals in 20 Bundesliga games for Cologne this season.
The forward, who can operate wide on the left or as a conventional striker, also has 43 goals in 95 international appearances for Germany.
