JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Holders Etoile Sahel made an emphatic start to the defence of their African Champions League title with a 5-0 defeat of Senegal's AS Douanes in their second round, first leg tie in Sousse on Saturday.

Tunisia international Mehdi Ben Dhifallah scored twice in a comfortable win with Cape Verde winger Ja, Afouan Gharbi and Mossaab Sassi adding a goal each.

The Tunisian side got a bye in the first round.

Goals from Lemrani Allaoui and Zakaria Amzil ensured Olympique Khouribga kept up their winning form in their debut appearance in the Champions League as the Moroccan champions won their derby against Entente Setif of Algeria.

The 2-0 win in Khouribga on Saturday leaves former African champions Setif with a difficult task in the return match at the end of the month.

Khouribga won both legs of their first round tie against Sporting Bissau from Guinea Bissau.

Former English Premier League striker Peter Ndlovu opened the scoring as Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa beat Curepipe Starlight of Mauritius 3-0 at Atteridgeville, near Pretoria, on Saturday.

Giantkillers Sporting Praia of Cape Verde Islands, who surprisingly eliminated Morocco's Royal Armed Forces in the previous round, needed a last-minute goal to beat Angola's InterClube 2-1 in the first leg of their second round tie on Saturday.
